Linear Dynamics Using Ansys Mechanical

Most, if not all, engineered products experience time-varying excitations. Thus, linear dynamics is an important branch of structural mechanics that studies the vibrational characteristics and dynamic responses of structural systems. In this Learning Track, we will learn how to use Ansys Mechanical to determine the natural frequencies of the model and solve downstream linear dynamic simulations, including harmonic, random vibration, transient, and response spectrum analyses. Understanding our system's frequency content as well as predicting its response to dynamic excitations are important when designing robust products.

Modal Analysis in Ansys Mechanical

We often take for granted the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the equipment and structures that we use in our daily lives. If natural frequencies of vibration are excited during normal operation, equipment performance can be negatively impacted and ultimately f...Read more

Intro to Modal-based Methods Using Ansys Mechanical

Have you ever wondered how a guitar gets its wonderful sound? This is one of the most common examples where vibrations are being intentionally made. In other circumstances, such as in an automobile, we suppress vibrations with the help of shock absorbers. To get optimal per...Read more

Harmonic Response Analysis in Ansys Mechanical

Harmonic response analysis is used to simulate how a structure will respond to sinusoidally repeating dynamic loading. This type of loading occurs in many structures you may encounter daily, such as an electric toothbrush or a fan inside a laptop. This cou...Read more

Mode Superposition Transient Analysis

Mode superposition transient analysis is a computationally efficient method of solving the time-varying response of a structure, as it uses a linear combination of mode shapes instead of solving the coupled equations directly. We will see how the mode superposition...Read more

Random Vibration Analysis Using Ansys Mechanical

Random vibration analysis is important in assessing the response of structures subjected to random vibration loads. Random vibration loads are not always quantifiable with certainty of the magnitude and time compared with the case of a deterministic time history loading. The i...Read more

Single-Point Response Spectrum Analysis Using Ansys Mechanical

Conducting a time-history dynamic analysis of a structure under short, nondeterministic, and time-dependent loading conditions can be highly time-consuming and computationally expensive. Response spectrum analysis is an alternative method t...Read more
