Intro to Ansys HFSS Using a Waveguide Example Part 2 — Lesson 3

A waveguide is the most popular form of transmission line that is used to guide electromagnetic waves from one point to another. This lesson is a continuation of the previous one. The geometry creation of the WR-15 waveguide along with the basic concepts of waveguides were covered in the previous lesson. This lesson covers the next steps, such as assigning excitations, adding solution setup, and post-processing of the results obtained from the simulation. The cutoff frequency of various modes propagating inside the waveguide are determined by plotting the real and imaginary parts of a propagation constant. The field distributions for different modes are also plotted for better understanding.
