Intro to Preloaded Bolted Joint Design — Lesson 1

Typically, bolts are small components in a structure. Threaded fasteners are picked from existing types and not specifically designed. They are available in various sizes and shapes to meet different standards. But if they fail to support the load, it can cause the whole assembly to fail.

Hence, it is necessary to study the bolt. This lesson introduces different types of threaded fasteners and their nomenclature, and also sets the stage for upcoming lessons.
