Intro to Fluid Statics - Lesson 1

Dams are incredible structures that safely contain large volume of water. The water, even without moving, exerts pressure on the dam walls and we need to take this into account when design a dam.

Amazing underwater vehicles such as remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are used to explore the oceans, help with  rescue missions and perform maintenance where the conditions, such as the high pressures, would not be suitable for humans.

These and many other applications require the knowledge of the fluid pressure. In this section you will learn how to analyze static fluids to understand how the pressure varies in them and how you can apply these findings for practical uses. Let's explore fluid statics!
