The Pure Dirichlet Problem — Lesson 1

Other aspects of the finite element method are discussed in this lesson. The discussion still revolves around linear 1D elliptic partial differential equations (PDEs). A boundary value problem in which all the boundaries are specified with the Dirichlet boundary condition is discussed. Such problems are called pure Dirichlet problems. An example of a linear elastic bar is considered here.
