The Pure Dirichlet Problem — Lesson 1

Other aspects of the finite element method are discussed in this lesson. The discussion still revolves around linear 1D elliptic partial differential equations (PDEs). A boundary value problem in which all the boundaries are specified with the Dirichlet boundary condition is discussed. Such problems are called pure Dirichlet problems. An example of a linear elastic bar is considered here.


The problem discussed in the previous video continues here and the process of finite element assembly for the elements is done. The solution is completed for the pure Dirichlet problem.
