Intro to Continuum Physics - Lesson 1

Continuum physics can be defined as physics of bodies that can be considered as continuous systems. In this course, the physical quantities that are described by continuous mathematical functions will be addressed. This includes mechanics of solids and fluids as well as transport (how mass or heat are transported through the bodies of interest).

Continuum mechanics is a branch of mechanics that deals with the mechanical behavior of materials modeled as a continuous mass rather than as discrete particles. The position vector is introduced to represent the particle position mathematically.
