Configurations — Lesson 1

The video starts with the basic tools that are needed to describe the motion. Bases vectors are used to describe the motion mathematically. Positions or configurations of the body in space are discussed and we show how the configuration of the body in space defines the motion of the body.

The discussion on the motion of body continues in this video. The configuration of the body is parametrized in terms of a variable T equivalent to time. This is to visualize the body occupying different configurations at different times which represents motion. Choice of reference configuration is shown, and the choice is arbitrary. Functions are defined to move from a reference configuration to the current configuration/ spatial configuration at a time ‘t’.
