Materials are everywhere, from chairs and cups to computers and cars. Picking the right material for a product, or materials selection, is an important part of product design. We want our material to perform as expected throughout the product’s lifetime.
But there are so many different materials to choose from — how do we start?
This course will cover defining material performance and how this directly impacts materials selection for product design, defining material families and how we can use them to categorize materials based on properties, and exploring how to determine relevant material families for specific products based on product requirements.
