Behavior of Higher-Order Modes; Consistency - Lesson 11

The lesson starts with a quick summary of stability results discussed in previous lessons and the discussion follows on with Amplification Factor. What is higher order mode, what characterizes order of a model and what is the effect of this amplification factor on the higher order modes is discussed. Variation of the amplification factor with time steps is plotted and the variation of amplification factor with different Euler algorithms is discussed.

The discussion continues from the previous video and remarks are made on different Euler schemes and mid-point rule used. Next the discussion is carried towards convergence. For this the notion of consistency is discussed first and then a consistency condition is derived. Consistency method is discussed next.
