Inductance Matrix Reduction — Lesson 5

This lesson teaches methods of inductance matrix reduction with the example of three conductors. These methods are accompanied by simulation workshops.

This lesson consists of one lecture and two workshops.

The lecture covers some basic equations related to inductance and then introduces few basic matrix operations. It provides insight about self-inductance, mutual inductance, partial inductance, loop inductance, etc.


Workshop 5.1

This workshop covers the simulation aspects of MSbX inductance matrix reduction. The outline for this workshop is as follows:
Open AEDT Q3D >> open MSbX archived file >> simulate it >> reduce matrix – join in series return path >> reduce matrix – join in series ground net >> compare reduced matrices.


Workshop 5.2

This workshop covers the simulation aspects of Z-bend inductance matrix reduction. The outline for this workshop is as follows:
Open AEDT Q3D >> open Zbend archived file >> perform ground net matrix reduction >> perform return path matrix reduction >> compare matrix reduction results.
