Geometry Creation in Ansys SpaceClaim — Lesson 1

All CFD simulations begin with a CAD model. Creating a clean 3D geometry is essential to an analysis, and as such, it is important students become familiar with the tools and geometry manipulation operations. In this lesson, students will be introduced to the fundamental tools used to create solid, 3D models in Ansys SpaceClaim. These fundamental tools will be used to create parts of the chassis, wheels, and front and rear wings. Students will also become familiar with the core operations within SpaceClaim. By the end of the lesson, students will have the tools to allow them to create complex designs that they will later analyze with CFD tools. Before you start the lesson, hear first hand from an F1 in schools team sonic boom on how they are using Ansys tools in car design.

F1 in School Car, Team Sonic BoomIn these geometry creation videos, students will learn about the fundamental tools and operations in Ansys SpaceClaim to create car CAD model. These tools and operations will be demonstrated as we create parts of the chassis, wheels, and aerodynamic surfaces of the model car.
