CFD Analysis of a Car Using Ansys Discovery - Lesson 2

Once we have prepared the geometry for our simulations, we can begin the process of setting up and solving our initial CFD analysis. Understanding the process for setting up, solving, post-processing, and debugging one’s simulation is vitally important for the success of the simulation and the robustness of the results that the simulation provides. When we are performing an external aerodynamic analysis, it is crucial that we setup and examine the flow around an object. The prediction of flow around the vehicle is directly related to predictions of drag.  We will accomplish this using the tools built into Ansys Discovery in Explore mode.

Using Discovery, this lesson will give students an overview of how to import geometry, set up a fluid domain, apply material properties and boundary conditions, then solve and process the results. Students will be shown the tools and many of the best practices used when performing CFD simulations using Discovery.
